The Philippine government has extended the upcoming long weekend by moving Ninoy Aquino Day from Wednesday, August 21st, to Friday, August 23rd. This change will create a four-day weekend for Filipinos.
President Bongbong Marcos signed a proclamation to make this adjustment, aiming to boost domestic tourism. The government emphasized that despite the change in date, the historical significance of Ninoy Aquino Day should still be recognized.
The Department of Labor and Employment has been instructed to issue guidelines for the private sector to follow regarding this new holiday arrangement.
